Tell us about your role

In my role as Laboratory Engineer at Scanlube, I help ensure that our products meet the high quality that is our hallmark. To achieve this, I work largely on optimizing our formula-tions and processes. My role involves close contact and collaboration with other depart-ments, both internally and externally. If there is a product quality issue, I investigate and determine the cause, and develop an action to prevent the problem from recurring.

What does a working day look like?

I start each day by checking the current status and plan my day accordingly.

Even if I have partially planned what I will work on for the day, there can always be unexpected events that mean I have to plan again and need to work on other things.

I spend some days in front of the computer producing statistics and performing product data analyses to ensure that we are prioritizing correctly in order to optimize in the best way.

After that, I make the necessary changes for the quality to be met in our internal data systems, such as changes in our lab data program and in our formulations.

Other days I need to go out into the production plant to visually examine and take samples for further analysis in the laboratory.

Another large part of my work is providing technical support, mostly internally but also to external customers.

What do you like best about the job?

Besides my fantastic colleagues and the good cooperation between departments, one of the best things about my job is the great feeling when you have solved a more difficult problem. Especially those that have needed a lot of investigation and that show me an improved result that helps us deliver as planned.

Education/background

I have a chemical engineering education and nearly 14 years of experience as a laboratory engineer.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like working out at the gym, reading and going for a walk, preferably in the woods with a dog.
